Energy Access, Justice, and Decarbonization in Africa and the Developing World
Dr. John O. Owolabi
Roughly seven hundred million people still lack electricity, and far more lack clean cooking fuel, a reality that sits uneasily beside a transition debate shaped mostly by already-electrified economies. Light for All Nations treats energy access as a field with its own engineering, financial, and justice logic. Its central argument is that universal access and global decarbonization are complementary, but only when pursued with technologies and finance suited to developing-economy conditions: off-grid and mini-grid systems, appropriately scaled financing instruments, and business models built for lower and less predictable revenue. Written without paternalism and with respect for the expertise already present in the Global South, it is planned for engineers, project developers, governments, development finance institutions, impact investors, and students committed to bringing light to every nation.
